Are you ready? This week the team talk about Ready Player One, WWE, Santa Clarita Diet, Glow, The Good Place, The Tick, Altered Carbon and Netflix Lemony Snickets season 2. They get very excitable too, maybe they need hosed down?
Listen in awe as Neil enjoys Ready Player One, the movie, in its own right. However, he does clearly state it isn’t as good as the “Ready Player One” book and that the first two minutes is where the book and script begin to drift apart significantly.
Based on Ernest Clines incredibly successful novel, it was extremely likely that Steven Speilberg would change the screenplay significantly. First of all, many things wouldn’t translate well from novel to big screen.
Secondly, the licensing costs that would be associated with every song, movie, TV show and game that would have been needed to accurately recreate the novel into the Ready Player One movie would have been astronomical.
Filip and Neil mention WWE and manage to get away with it, before being moved swiftly onto the Santa Clarita Diet. The zombie sitcom with extremely dark undertones, it’s about zombies for goodness sake, has been back for the latest season and it keeps getting better and better. Fans will be relieved to know another season has been ordered!
Glow’s second season premiered, Cassie and Neil discuss the development of the characters and… Nah, are you ready for this, they discuss the women wrestling and Kate Nash getting her bits out! Oh, and they do review it, kind of.
The Good Place has been a fantastic success for NBC. Has it managed to maintain the course, given the massive twist is now out in the open. Listen to find out what we think.
Finally, Neil goes on about The Tick and some more about Altered Carbon. What did he think of them? Well, listen and find out.

Got something to say that has nothing to do with Ready Player One? We love you.
Sometimes we may give the wrong impression that a podcast is focused more on one subject than it actually is. In this case we can say without fear of contradiction (if you don’t listen you can’t contradict) that this podcast is not simply all about Ready Player. Indeed it covers many more subjects than Ready Player as you can confirm for yourself by having a jolly good listen. OK ?
